About the house.
THE HOUSE
Sa Bleda was built in 1914 in Art Nouveau style by Don Onofre Bauza Castañer with profits obtained from the trade of oranges with France and is named after the Mallorquin word for the vegetable ’chard’. Thanks to its impressive architecture, Sa Bleda is on the list of the most emblematic buildings in Sóller.
Situated in a very central location of this beautiful town, the house enjoys privacy with a large walled garden behind the house with providing spectacular views of the Serra du Tramuntana Mountains. Here you will find, among orange trees and lawns of the garden, the large salt water swimming pool and the outdoor kitchen and dining area.
The house consists of three main floors and and a basement. The main social spaces of the house are found on the ground floor. Two large halls traverses the house and link the front of the house to the secluded garden. The six large double bedrooms and five bathrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, each with a spacious master suite. The ground floor has a bathroom with shower supporting the pool.
Throughout much of 2021 and 2022, Sa Bleda underwent a complete and highly sympathetic refurbishment which has resulted in a beautiful and welcoming home.
THE SURROUNDINGS – SÓLLER VALLEY
The house is perfectly located in the heart of Sóller and the Sóller valley - «the valley of the oranges». The Tramuntana mountain range surrounds the valley, with the characteristic «Puig Major» as the centrepiece. Towering 1445 metres above sea level, the mountain is the highest point in the Balearic Islands.
The central location of the house, only 200 metres from the picturesque Square, is a great year round advantage. The Catholic cathedral of Sóller sits impressively to the south side of the Square, a space surrounded by restaurants, bars and places to sit and enjoy the day to day life of this bustling town. In the nearby streets you will find cafes, traditional bakeries, butchers and vegetable shops. On Saturdays there is an busy and authentic market with local produce, and throughout the year a number of festivals, concerts and other cultural events will take place here at the «Plaça de sa Constitució».
If taking a trip outside of the village is on your mind, you will find many options close by. The small train station, which provides for transport to the capital Palma, is only a few streets away from Sa Bleda, where you will also find the starting point for the «Sóller – Puerto de Sóller» tram, which makes the Port de Sóller beach easily accessible, even without a car. Nearby is also the Sóller taxi stop. Should you have your own means of transport, the house has parking spaces available, securely behind an electric gate.
The house and town are perfect for a relaxing holiday or more energetic pursuits of cycling and walking. Popular walks that start nearby include the beautiful Sóller to Deiá 11km or the charming and shorter walks to the pretty villages of Biniaraix and Fornaluxt.
